CMBC Approved Education Programs
University of British Columbia Midwifery Education Program
The Midwifery Education Program at UBC is a CMBC approved four-year, direct entry, full-time undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Midwifery degree. Graduates may apply for general registration in British Columbia after passing the Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination (CMRE). The curriculum combines broad-based knowledge and understanding in the humanities and the social and bio-medical sciences. A variety of teaching methods are used, including seminars, laboratories, web-based technology, distance-learning, and clinical placements with BC midwives. Teaching is done in clinical placements, lecture theatres, seminar rooms, hospitals and labs throughout the province, and in international settings. Students spend at least 3 terms gaining clinical experience in midwifery practices across the province in order to meet clinical experience requirements for general registration with the CMBC.Ontario Midwifery Education Programme
