CMBC seeks a part-time QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CLINICAL POLICY DIRECTOR
The College of Midwives of BC (CMBC) www.cmbc.bc.ca invites applications for a Quality Assurance and Clinical Practice Policy Director. The person selected for this .5 FTE position will start November 1, 2016, working directly with the Registrar/Executive Director and two key College committees, Quality Assurance and Standards of Practice, on a variety of policy initiatives and program activities that affect the midwifery profession.
This position is responsible for managing CMBC’s Quality Assurance Program, the process for Certification in Specialized Practice, and for providing staff support to the committees and board to ensure that the CMBC’s standards, policies and guidelines related to clinical practice are regularly reviewed and kept up-to-date, working within the CMBC’s legislated mandate under the Health Professions Act. The successful candidate will also have a role in member communications, responding to inquiries regarding quality assurance, scope of practice and clinical practice issues.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills; superior research and writing skills; be detail and deadline focused; and have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with committees and a cohesive staff team. The successful candidate will likely be a Registered Midwife with policy development experience and a solid understanding of health policy for a regulatory environment; or an individual with a policy background who has knowledge of the midwifery profession in Canada, and familiarity with the health regulatory environment, the British Columbia health system and maternal newborn care in Canada.
Up-to-date knowledge of current midwifery practice standards and evidence-informed practice in maternity care will be needed to work in this position, as well as proficiency working in Word, Excel and Outlook.
